The 49th parallel is an example of a specific latitude line that serves as a border between the United States and Canada. It runs east-west along this line of latitude.

Think of the 49th parallel as an invisible fence in your neighborhood separating two yards. One side belongs to the United States and the other side belongs to Canada. You can't see it but it's there!
