Definition

An endangered species refers to a species of organisms that is at risk of becoming extinct due to declining population numbers and threats to their habitat.

Analogy

Imagine a group of friends who are trapped on an island with limited resources. If they don't find a way to escape or get help, their chances of survival become very low. Similarly, endangered species are like those friends, facing the risk of extinction if they can't recover their population or protect their habitat.
