Linear Scale

Definition

A linear scale is one where equal distances on the scale represent equal differences in value. It's straightforward and direct - if you move from 1 to 2 on this type of scale, it represents the same change as moving from 2 to 3.

Analogy

Think about walking along a straight road with houses numbered sequentially. Moving from house number 1 to house number 2 is just as far as moving from house number 2 to house number 3 - that's how changes work on a linear scale!
