Methane Gas

Definition

Methane gas is another potent greenhouse gas that is released during natural processes (such as decomposition) and human activities (such as livestock farming and fossil fuel extraction). It has a much stronger warming effect than carbon dioxide but stays in the atmosphere for a shorter period of time.
