Definition

Underestimate means to make an estimate or prediction that is lower than the actual value. It occurs when we underestimate how big or significant something is.

Analogy

Imagine trying to guess how many jellybeans are in a jar but underestimating and guessing too low. Your guess might not accurately represent the true number of jellybeans in the jar.
