Scores released in early July, rolled out by region. Here's what they add up to:
Did you earn an AP Scholar Award?
Scores of 3+ on 3 exams makes you an AP Scholar. 4 exams plus a 3.25 average earns Honor; 5 examsplus 3.5 earns Distinction. It's automatic — no application, no fee — and awards appear in score reports in mid-July.

Colleges only see the scores you send. You can withhold a score for $10 or cancel it entirely — and most schools grant credit at 3+.

There's no magic number, but there is a reported sweet spot by grade — enough rigor to matter, not so much that grades slip:

AP Physics 1 has the lowest 5 rate — about 19%. Biology, Chemistry, US History, and Calculus BC round out the toughest tier: heavy workloads and exams that punish shallow prep.
