Definition

Refers to the similarity or equality between multiple groups or populations. In statistics, it specifically refers to whether multiple categorical variables have similar distributions.

Independence: When events or variables are not influenced by one another. Independence is often assumed when testing for homogeneity using a chi-squared test.

Contingency table: A table that summarizes categorical data from two or more groups, showing their joint frequencies.
