Sacroiliac joint

Definition

The sacroiliac joint is a strong, weight-bearing joint that connects the sacrum at the base of the spine to the iliac bones in the pelvis. It plays a crucial role in transferring weight and forces between the upper body and legs, while also allowing for limited movement to absorb shock and reduce stress on the pelvis.
