The Dalton Model, proposed by John Dalton in the early 19th century, describes atoms as indivisible and indestructible particles. It suggests that all atoms of a particular element are identical in mass and properties.
Think of the Dalton model like marbles in a bag. Each marble (atom) is solid, indivisible, and identical to every other marble of the same color (element).
Atomic Theory: A theory that states that all matter is composed of tiny particles called atoms.
Element: A substance consisting of atoms which all have the same number of protons - i.e., the same atomic number.
Indivisible: Something that cannot be divided or separated.
