Fiveable vs Albert.io for Schools

Albert and Fiveable price a school license differently and handle free response differently. Albert charges per student per year, with teacher features and every subject included in the price. Fiveable charges per seat, with separate student and teacher seats, and every AP^® subject comes on both kinds of seat. On free response, Albert's teachers score FRQs themselves, while Fiveable's grader scores each response point by point and the teacher reviews, adjusts, or approves the score before it counts.

Before you read the tables, count three things: the students who will use the license, the teachers who grade FRQs, and the AP subjects your department teaches. The first number sets the price on both platforms. The second decides what Fiveable's teacher seats are worth to you. The third does not change the price, because both school licenses cover every subject.

From 50 students, the two list prices are the same. Albert's school license and Fiveable's student seats both charge $18 per student between 50 and 999, and both charge $15 at 1,000 or more, though Albert's district price needs two schools. Albert says its rate goes down for every 100 students, so a quote in the hundreds may come in under Fiveable's list; Fiveable's calculator price is the price. Below 50 students Albert does not sell a school license at all, and Fiveable seats start at one, at $79 each and $45 from 5.

Two example orders make the gap concrete. These are our own assumptions, and you can swap in your own counts on the calculator. A department of six teachers and 120 students on Fiveable is 6 × $99 + 120 × $18, or $2,754 a year, with FRQ scoring on the six teacher seats. The same 120 students on Albert at the $18 list price is $2,160 a year, with FRQ scoring done by the teachers. A school licensing 600 students on Fiveable is 600 × $18, or $10,800 a year. On Albert it is at most 600 × $18, the same $10,800, and Albert's rate drops with volume.

A Fiveable student seat includes study guides, practice questions, FRQ practice, and full-length exams across all 42 AP subjects. A Fiveable teacher seat includes FRQ grading in 37 AP subjects plus the same study content across all 42. For a coordinator, the short version is that Albert's license buys the adaptive item bank, the skill analytics, and an account manager. Fiveable's buys FRQ scoring with teacher review on the teacher seats, study guides and full-length exams for students, and a price you can see without a call.

How FRQs Get Scored on Each

On Albert, free response stays with the teacher. Albert's help center (checked August 2026) describes teachers reviewing FRQ responses and entering the grades themselves; the platform assigns the work, and scoring is the teacher's task. Albert publishes no per-subject scoring evidence that we could find as of August 2026. Albert has no AI scoring, so there is nothing to measure.

On Fiveable, the grader on a teacher seat scores each response first, and the teacher then reviews it. The scoring runs point by point, built around how each question type earns points: a science FRQ and an argument essay are scored on different things. Both school licenses include every subject, so at the school level you are not buying subjects; you are buying students. Albert's school license carries a 50-student minimum (September 2026); below that, students are on Albert's individual pricing at $79 per AP subject, with some subject groups at $39 to $79, and Fiveable vs Albert compares those individual plans. Fiveable seats start at one. At 50 students or more the two list at the same $18 per student, so the choice is what the seats include. On price this one is level: both list $18 per student from 50 and $15 at 1,000 or more, and Albert's quote may come in lower at the hundreds. A department whose main problem is FRQ grading time

This is where Fiveable's seats earn their price. Albert does not score FRQs, so an Albert license leaves the FRQ sets where they were.
