What your AI app sees about students, what waits for your yes, and how to disconnect.
what your AI app sees
Your AI app gets the results of the tools it calls, trimmed to what the job needs.
short names and anonymous handles
Students appear as a first name and last initial with an anonymous handle: S-… for a student in your classes, E-… for an essay in a grading session. Your AI app uses the handle to ask about one student.
names come from your roster
Names come from your Fiveable roster or your Google Classroom roster, not from the AI. For pasted or uploaded work, the name is the one written on the work or the file name.
essay text only when you ask
Imports never repeat essay text back into the chat. Your AI app reads a response only when you ask to see that one.
never sent to your AI app
Student emails, account ids and Google ids stay in Fiveable.
students see nothing without your yes
Publishing, changing dates, handing results back and sending grades to Google Classroom each show a preview and wait for your yes. Classes, rosters, drafts and scores can be undone, and your AI app tells you how after each change.
rather not share names with an AI?
Upload the files at fiveable.me/assignments/import, then carry on in chat. Tools only ever return a first name and last initial.
disconnect any time
On your Fiveable account page, go to Integrations, then Connected AI apps, and remove the app labeled Fiveable for AP Teachers. Your AI app loses access right away, and your classes and grading stay in your workspace.
Whatever Fiveable sends your AI app, including any essay you ask to read, is part of that chat and follows your AI provider’s settings and terms. Read more on our AI transparency page and in the privacy policy.
permissions you approve
When your AI app connects, Fiveable’s sign-in screen lists these permissions before you approve. Your AI app never receives your Fiveable password.
