practice by frq type, essay scanning, and more

october 13, 2026

Students can practice each FRQ type, mix units, and pick a cheatsheet format. Teachers can scan handwritten essays with a phone and see how answers were written.

For students

  • Practice by FRQ type. FRQ types across AP subjects now have their own practice pages, like the APUSH LEQ or the AP Bio graphing question, with what the rubric rewards and questions you can filter by unit. Try APUSH LEQs
  • Practice several units at once. Pick more than one unit, or several topics, in guided practice. The same multi-unit filter works on FRQ type pages, cheatsheets and review videos. Start guided practice
  • Pick a cheatsheet format. Visual cheatsheets now come as a comparison chart, timeline, map, vocab sheet and more, plus black-and-white print handouts. For example, here's a timeline of the Dutch Golden Age for AP Euro. Browse cheatsheets
  • Edit or start fresh on retakes. When a teacher allows a retake with the same questions, you can start from an earlier attempt's answers or begin from scratch.

For teachers

  • Scan essays with your phone. In Grade FRQs, scan a stack of handwritten essays with your phone camera, and Fiveable reads each student's name from the first page. Large files now upload too. Grade FRQs
  • See how each answer was written. For typed FRQ answers, see time spent, typing pace and paste attempts, with a flag on answers worth a look. Students see a note about it, and you can turn it off per assignment.
  • Print feedback and compare attempts. Print every student's responses with your feedback, one student per page, and switch between a student's attempts in review. See the Teacher Workspace

Content updates

  • New history LEQs. 114 new APUSH, 112 AP Euro and 111 AP World LEQs. Full practice exams now draw broad LEQs that span several units. Practice AP Euro LEQs
  • Key takeaways in history guides. APUSH and AP World study guides now include a short Key Takeaways section near the top. Browse APUSH

Fixes

  • Pages no longer crash when Chrome translates them.
  • FRQ parts with subparts answered in one box are scored, instead of marked blank.
  • AP Music Theory answers drawn on the staff score again, and highlighting text in an FRQ no longer shows the copy warning.
