Opacity/Transparency

Definition

Opacity refers to the degree of visibility or transparency of an object or element. It determines how much light can pass through an object, affecting its overall appearance.

Analogy

Imagine a glass window. If the window is completely transparent, you can see everything clearly on the other side, and it has high transparency. But if the window is frosted or tinted, it becomes less transparent and more opaque, making it difficult to see through.

Related terms

Transparency: The quality of being able to see through an object or material.

Opaque: Refers to an object that does not allow any light to pass through, resulting in no visibility.

Translucent: Describes an object that allows some light to pass through but scatters it, causing a blurred or diffused view.
