Misinformation refers to false or inaccurate information that is spread unintentionally or deliberately, often through various media channels.
Think of misinformation as a game of telephone. When someone whispers a message from one person to another in a chain, it can get distorted along the way. Similarly, misinformation spreads when incorrect information gets passed on from one source to another without fact-checking.
Disinformation: False information that is intentionally spread with malicious intent.
Fact-checking: The process of verifying the accuracy and truthfulness of claims or statements.
Confirmation bias: The tendency for individuals to seek out information that confirms their existing beliefs while ignoring contradictory evidence.
