Sympatholytic drug

Definition

A sympatholytic drug is a type of medication that inhibits the postganglionic functioning of the sympathetic nervous system. It can lower blood pressure, reduce heart rate, and decrease stress responses by blocking or dampening the effects of sympathetic neurotransmitters.
