Definition

Keratohyalin is a protein found in the granular layer of the epidermis that plays a crucial role in the hydration and cross-linking of keratin fibers, contributing to the formation of the skin's protective barrier. It aggregates into granules that are key for the physical properties of the outermost layers of skin.
