Weak thesis

A vague position like “Es gibt Vor- und Nachteile” gives the essay nowhere to go. Take a side, even if you qualify it.

Ignoring one source

You need all provided sources to matter. If one source only appears in a throwaway sentence, the essay usually feels underdeveloped.

Evidence without explanation

Do not assume a statistic or example explains itself. After using evidence, say why it supports your point.

Overcomplicated language

Long, ambitious sentences help only if you control them. Clear German beats tangled German.

If you tend to rush, use a simple structure:

1. Read the prompt and identify the core issue.
2. Mark each source’s main claim, tone, or useful evidence.
3. Choose your thesis.
4. Sketch 2-3 body-paragraph claims.
5. Write.
6. Save a little time to check clarity, source use, and transitions.
