Talocrural joint

Definition

The talocrural joint, also known as the ankle joint, involves the articulation between the talus bone of the foot and the tibia and fibula bones of the leg. It is a hinge type of synovial joint that allows for dorsiflexion and plantarflexion movements of the foot.
