Export grades for your gradebook

Download a CSV or open assignment grades in Google Sheets.

Quick answer

Open the assignment's Responses tab and select Export grades. Choose Download CSV for a file or Open in Google Sheets for a new sheet. Review names and scores before copying them into your gradebook.

What to do

  1. Open Responses

Open an assignment with at least one submission and select Responses.

Assignment tabs with Responses selected and Export grades above the response table.
Open Responses, then find Export grades above the table.
  2. Select Export grades

The menu is available above the response table.

Responses controls with Refresh and Export grades above the class summary.
Use Export grades after the response table has the rows and final scores you expect.
  3. Choose the format

Select Download CSV for a local file. Select Open in Google Sheets to create a sheet; sign in to Google if Fiveable asks for authorization.

  4. Review the export

Check student names, completion, and final scores. Resolve duplicates or account-name differences before importing the data into another gradebook.

If something is not working

Export grades is disabled.

The assignment needs at least one grade row. Refresh Responses and complete any required reviews first.

Google Sheets asks me to sign in.

Choose the Google account where you want the sheet saved and approve the requested connection. You can use Download CSV instead.
