Definition

The esophageal plexus is a network of nerves found in the thorax that supplies nerve fibers to the esophagus, aiding in its control and movements. It comprises branches from both the vagus nerve and sympathetic trunk, facilitating coordinated swallowing and peristaltic action of the esophagus.
