London's Great Fire of 1666 was a catastrophic event that reshaped the city. Starting in a bakery, it quickly spread through densely packed wooden buildings, destroying most of the city within the old Roman walls and displacing 100,000 people.

The fire's aftermath led to significant changes in London's architecture and urban planning. New building regulations mandated fire-resistant materials and wider streets. Christopher Wren played a crucial role in the reconstruction, designing St. Paul's Cathedral and numerous churches that defined London's new skyline.
