5 Must Know Facts For Your Next Test

  1. The ureters are approximately 25-30 cm long in adults.
  2. Ureteral peristalsis is the rhythmic contraction that propels urine toward the bladder.
  3. The inner lining of the ureter is made of transitional epithelium, which allows it to stretch as urine passes through.
  4. A condition called hydronephrosis can occur if there is an obstruction in the ureter, causing urine to back up into the kidney.
  5. The point where each ureter enters the bladder is called the ureterovesical junction.
