Family structures refer to the composition or organization of a family unit. This can include nuclear families (parents & children), extended families (grandparents/aunts/uncles/cousins), single-parent families etc.
Consider family structures as different types of sports teams. A nuclear family is like a basketball team - small but tightly knit. An extended family is more like a football team - larger with many players filling different positions.
Kinship Systems: Social relationships derived from family connection that form fundamental patterns in societies such as descent patterns or inheritance rules.
Single-Parent Household: A household where only one parent lives with the child or children.
Blended Families: A family consisting of a couple together with their children from this relationship as well as from previous relationships.
