Family Structures

Definition

Family structures refer to the various forms that families can take within a society. This includes nuclear families (parents and children), extended families (including grandparents, aunts/uncles), single-parent families, blended families (stepfamilies), or same-sex parent families.

Analogy

Imagine family structures as different types of sandwiches. Some people have classic sandwiches with just bread, meat, and cheese (nuclear family), while others have extra layers like lettuce or tomatoes (extended family). There are also unique combinations like two different sandwiches combined into one (blended family).
