Definition

Huitzilopochtli was the Aztec god of sun and war. He was one of the most important deities in the Aztec pantheon, and his worship involved human sacrifice.

Analogy

Think of Huitzilopochtli as Superman. Just like Superman draws his power from the sun, Huitzilopochtli was believed to be nourished by human sacrifices so he could continue his daily battle with darkness, ensuring the sun would rise again.
