Definition

Tenochtitlan was the capital city of the Aztec Empire, located on an island in Lake Texcoco in central Mexico. It was one of the largest and most sophisticated cities in the world during its peak.

Think of Tenochtitlan as New York City. Just like NYC is a hub for culture, finance, and art, Tenochtitlan was a center for Aztec culture, trade, and religion.
