Definition

Demographics refer to the statistical data relating to the population and particular groups within it, such as age, gender, income level, race, education, etc.

Analogy

Think of demographics like a snapshot of a crowd at a concert. The picture can tell you how many people are there (population), what bands they like (preferences), their average age (age group), and even where they're from (geographical location).
