Carbon Footprint

Definition

The term "carbon footprint" refers to the amount of greenhouse gases, specifically carbon dioxide, emitted into the atmosphere as a result of human activities.

Analogy

Think of your carbon footprint like a trail you leave behind. Every action you take that releases carbon dioxide adds to your trail, and over time it can become quite substantial. Just like how leaving footprints on the ground shows where you've been, your carbon footprint shows the impact you've had on the environment.
