Definition

These refer to job characteristics that influence the physical and mental well-being of workers. This includes factors such as safety protocols, work hours and breaks allowances among others.

Analogy

Working conditions are like the rules set for playing a game. They dictate how the game (or job) is played, how long it lasts, and what safety measures are in place to protect the players (workers).

Industrial Revolution: The transition from new manufacturing processes in Europe from about 1760 to sometime between 1820 and 1840. This transition included going from hand production methods to machines, new chemical manufacturing and iron production processes, improved efficiency of water power etc.
