Definition

Also known as Bolshevik Revolution; this was an armed insurrection led by Vladimir Lenin's Bolshevik Party in Petrograd (now St. Petersburg), Russia, which took place in October (November on Gregorian calendar) 1917. It resulted in overthrowing Provisional Government and establishing Soviet rule.

Analogy

Imagine you're playing King-of-the-Hill with your friends. You've just managed to push off one friend from top (Provisional Government), but then another friend (the Bolsheviks) comes along and pushes you off before you can even get comfortable at top. That's what happened during October Revolution!
