Definition

Glasnost was a policy of openness, transparency, and political liberalization implemented by Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev in the 1980s.

Analogy

Think of Glasnost as a parent deciding to have an open-door policy at home. This means that all family members are encouraged to express their opinions freely without fear of punishment. It's about creating an environment where everyone feels safe to speak up.
