Age of Reformation

Definition

The Age of Reformation was a period in European history from the early 16th to mid-17th century when significant changes occurred in Christianity due to religious, political, and intellectual developments. This era saw the rise of Protestantism and a decline in the power of the Catholic Church.

Analogy

Think of the Age of Reformation as a massive renovation project on an old house (the Catholic Church). Some people (Protestants) thought that it needed major changes, while others wanted to keep things as they were. This led to disagreements and eventually, some people decided to build their own houses (new churches).
