Species Evenness

Definition

Species evenness refers to the relative abundance of different species within a community. It measures how evenly individuals are distributed among the various species present.

Analogy

Imagine a classroom where each student represents a different species. If there is high species evenness, it means that every student has an equal number of classmates sitting next to them. However, if there is low species evenness, some students have many classmates sitting next to them while others have very few.
