Reproductive Isolation

Definition

Reproductive isolation occurs when two populations become unable to interbreed successfully due to barriers such as geographical separation, behavioral differences, or genetic incompatibility. This isolation can lead to speciation over time.

Analogy

Picture two groups attending separate parties on opposite sides of town. If they never interact or exchange information (genes), they remain isolated from each other. Eventually, they may develop distinct cultures and traditions that make intermingling difficult.
