Definition

Negative feedback loops are regulatory mechanisms within ecosystems that work to maintain balance by reducing or reversing any changes that occur. They help stabilize and restore equilibrium.

Analogy

Think of negative feedback loops as a thermostat for your home. When the temperature rises above the desired level, the air conditioner turns on and cools down the room. Once it reaches the desired temperature, it turns off until it's needed again.
