Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs)

Definition

Genetically modified organisms, or GMOs, are living organisms whose genetic material has been altered using biotechnology. This alteration allows scientists to introduce specific traits into the organism that would not have occurred naturally.

Analogy

Think of GMOs as a pizza with toppings that you can customize. Just like you can add or remove toppings to create a unique pizza, scientists can modify the genes of an organism to add or remove specific traits.
