Drug-resistant TB refers to a strain of tuberculosis bacteria that has developed resistance to the drugs commonly used to treat the disease. This makes it more difficult and sometimes impossible to cure.
Antibiotic Resistance: The ability of bacteria or other microorganisms to resist the effects of antibiotics, making infections harder to treat.
Multi-drug Resistant Organisms (MDROs): Microorganisms that are resistant to multiple types of antimicrobial drugs.
Extensively Drug-Resistant Tuberculosis (XDR-TB): A form of TB that is resistant not only to the most effective first-line drugs but also some second-line drugs, making it even more challenging to treat.
