Alleles

Definition

Alleles are different versions of a gene that determine specific traits or characteristics in an organism. They can be dominant or recessive, and individuals inherit two alleles for each gene, one from each parent.

Analogy

Think of alleles as different flavors of ice cream. Just like there are different flavors (alleles) of ice cream, there are different versions of genes that determine traits in organisms.
