Definition

Solvation is the process where solvent molecules surround and interact with solute ions or molecules during dissolution.

Analogy

Imagine you're at a concert, and you're the lead singer (the solute). As soon as you step onto stage, fans (solvent molecules) rush towards you from all directions to get closer to you. This whole scenario represents solvation!
