Telophase I

Definition

Telophase I is a stage in meiosis when divided genetic material gathers at both poles forming two new cells.

Analogy

Telophase I is like the end of the tug-of-war game. The teams (chromosomes) have moved to opposite sides of the field (cell), and now they're celebrating their victory by forming two separate groups (new cells).

Related terms

Cytokinesis: This is the process where a single cell splits into two, marking the end of cell division. It's like when our tug-of-war teams split up to celebrate.

Nuclear Envelope: This structure re-forms around each set of chromosomes during telophase, creating two separate nuclei in each new cell. It's like a boundary line drawn around each team after they've separated.

Daughter Cells: These are the two new cells that result from meiosis. They're like our newly formed groups at the end of our tug-of-war game.
