Physiological mechanisms refer to how living organisms' bodies function internally at both physical and chemical levels in response to their environments.
Consider physiological mechanisms as your body’s internal factory system. When it gets cold outside (external stimulus), your body’s heating department (physiological mechanism) kicks into gear producing more heat (shivering).
Homeostasis: This is the state of steady internal conditions maintained by living things.
Metabolism: This refers to all the chemical reactions that occur within an organism to maintain life.
Endocrine System: This system uses hormones to regulate many functions in the body, including growth and metabolism.
