The fight-or-flight response is a physiological reaction that occurs in response to a perceived harmful event or threat to survival. It prepares an organism for fighting off harm or fleeing from danger.
Imagine you're playing a video game where you suddenly encounter a boss enemy - your adrenaline spikes (that's your body's fight-or-flight response), preparing you to either battle the boss or run away to safety.
