Definition

Rectus sheaths are fibrous sleeves that enclose the rectus abdominis muscles, providing structural support and protection. They are formed by the aponeuroses of the three flat abdominal muscles (external oblique, internal oblique, and transversus abdominis) wrapping around these vertically oriented muscles.
