Chromaffin

Definition

Chromaffin cells are specialized cells found in the adrenal medulla, part of the adrenal glands, which produce and release catecholamines (e.g., adrenaline and noradrenaline) into the bloodstream in response to stress. These cells are named for their ability to stain brownish with chromium salts due to the presence of catecholamines.
