Basophils

Definition

Basophils are a type of white blood cell that plays a critical role in the body's immune response by releasing chemicals such as histamine and heparin during allergic reactions and inflammation. They represent less than 1% of the total white blood cell count but are vital for mounting a protective response against pathogens.
