Secondary deviance

Definition

Secondary deviance occurs when an individual repeatedly violates a norm and begins to take on a deviant identity as a result of others' reactions to the initial acts of deviance. It represents a stage where the deviant behavior is integrated into the individual's self-concept and lifestyle.
