Unit 1, Topic 2 "Developments in Dar al-Islam from c. 1200 to c. 1450" or "Dar al-Islam: 1200 CE to 1450 CE". This live stream details the fall of the Ummayad caliphate and how much of it broke into 3 different sultanates due to either Turkic invasions or to descendants of Turkic people being used to form a sultanate. The three were: the Delhi Sultanate, the Mamluk Sultanate and the Seljuk Empire. The live stream also showcases al-Andalus (Moorish Spain) as an important footnote. All of these areas have maps for geographical knowledge, as well as the cultural and technological achievements of the Dar al-Islam period.
