Definition

A ganglionic neuron is a type of nerve cell located in the autonomic ganglia, responsible for transmitting signals from the central nervous system to various targets in the body such as organs, blood vessels, and glands. These neurons play a crucial role in the autonomic nervous system by mediating involuntary functions like heart rate, digestion, and respiratory rate.
