Definition

Continuous conduction is the process by which an action potential moves step-by-step along an unmyelinated axon, depolarizing each successive segment of the axonal membrane. It is a slower propagation compared to saltatory conduction in myelinated axons due to the continuous involvement of every part of the axon membrane.
