Sense strand

Definition

The sense strand is the segment of DNA that has the same sequence as the mRNA, which is synthesized from it during transcription, except that thymine (T) in DNA is replaced by uracil (U) in mRNA. It serves as the template for creating a complementary mRNA transcript.
